Treating US Lit, Cult., Politics

In the last two days, I have spoken with Tony Bogues, Joe Buttigieg, Ronald Judy, and Lindsay Waters about the need to develop a critical secular, that is, historical and philological reconsideration of the US, with an eye not only to the recovery of the US' own radical traditions and the liberatory possibilities of mainstream and marginal productions, but also to reveal the role played by all elements in US tradition in the construction of the current US reaction. I would welcome folks comments here to help in clarifying and concretizing such an idea so that we might develop it into a b2 issue.
